The ChancelThe three steps leading into the glorious chancel signify the Trinity. The chancel was rebuilt in the perpendicular style between 1408 and 1419 by Richard of Winchcombe, a master mason, with funding authorised by William of Wykeham, Bishop of Winchester and Chancellor of England. Situated above the east window are two carved heads of Bishop William who gifted the Rectorial Revenues of Adderbury to New College, Oxford.
As our patron, they were responsible for the beautiful restoration of the chancel in 2005. Prayer Almighty God, we ask your blessing on all who come into this chancel. May those who make music and sing your praises always hold you dear in their hearts, for the love of your Son our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen. |
